Can I be involved in more than one research team?
No. Each research team (RT) may consist of no more than two members.
I come from another discipline than economics. Can I participate?
Yes. At least one team member must hold a PhD in Economics, Psychology, Marketing, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
I would like to participate, but I am not sure I can complete all parts of the study at the required times. Should I sign up?
To ensure high data quality, please only sign up if you are confident that you can complete all required elements of the study within the specified timeline.
What do I need to submit for my participation in the study to be complete?
To complete participation, research teams must:
- Register and pass the eligibility screening.
- Submit one final experimental design consisting of a baseline and a treatment system prompt, together with a written theoretical rationale and references, using the official submission template.
- Evaluate 10 other submitted designs.
Can my participation remain anonymous?
In general, all members of RTs will become co-authors of the project and therefore will not be anonymous. RTs will be linked to their design proposals in the final publication.
Do RTs need to collect data themselves?
No. All data collection and experimental execution are centrally coordinated by the project coordinators (PCs).
RTs are only required to submit their design proposals, participate in the evaluation of other designs, and contribute to the analysis as specified.
Can I suggest other methods than regression analysis to test the hypothesis?
No. All primary and secondary analyses are based on a predefined ordinary least squares (OLS) regression framework. RTs are required to submit their analysis using this framework.
Are RTs allowed to vary participant payments or incentive schemes?
No. Participant compensation and incentive structures are centrally defined and identical across all designs.
RTs cannot modify payment schemes as part of their experimental design.
How many participants will be assigned to each design?
Each selected design will be implemented with a target sample size of approximately 400 participants, evenly split between treatment and control conditions.
Participant recruitment and sample size allocation are centrally coordinated by the RCs.
What happens if more than 40 eligible designs are submitted?
If more than 40 eligible and compliant designs are submitted, the final set of designs will be determined by a random selection procedure.
Peer evaluations are used for descriptive and analytical purposes only and do not affect which designs are implemented.
What if I expect to change affiliations while participating in the project?
This is not a problem. Please keep the PCs informed about any changes in your affiliation.
When and how is IRB approval obtained for the study?
IRB approval will be obtained through the ethics review process of GfEW.
The IRB process will take place after the selection of research teams.
Do RTs or participants receive reimbursement for costs?
RTs do not incur any participant or experimental costs in ManyPrompts.
All participant recruitment, compensation, and experimental execution are centrally organized and funded by the project team.
In addition, a subset of participants may be invited to make an actual purchase as part of the study. In such cases, participants can request reimbursement by submitting the required information via a form provided on this website, in accordance with the study instructions.
Can I participate on my own?
Yes. Each research team may consist of one or two members.
